Talk about a step back to another time, when Phillies pitcher Jamie Moyer slipped on his jersey to play in 2010, it would be the start of his fourth decade as an MLB pitcher. Jamie was 47 at the time. His long career showed 269 wins versus 209 losses. He was not a superstar, but good enough to play for 8 different teams. His best season was in 2003 when he posted a 21-7, 3.27 ERA for the Seattle Mariners and made the American League All Star team. With a velocity barely exceeding 80 mph, he was certainly not a flame thrower, which probably explains his longevity. He used a combination of four different pitches with good control. Following the 2010 season, Moyer had Tommy John surgery and did not play in 2011, but he was still not through. At the age of 49, the Colorado Rockies signed him to a one year contract in 2012. On May 12, he became the oldest pitcher ever to win a game. On June 1, Jamie’s major league career came to an end. After starting the season 2-5, the Rockies released him.
